Arnaque au nom de domaine

Un mail stressant

Ce matin, j'ai reçu un email étonnant, une gentille arnaque dont je n'avais pas encore été la cible. Voyez plutôt :

"(If you are not the person who is in charge of this, please forward to the right person/ department, as this is urgent, thank you.)

Dear CEO,

We are the department of registration service in China. we have something which needs to confirm with you. We formally received an application on January 4th, 2011. One company called "HenaSun Trading Co., LTD" is applying to register " cadeau-maestro" as Brand name and domain names as below:
cadeau-maestro.asia
cadeau-maestro.cn
cadeau-maestro.com.cn
cadeau-maestro.com.hk
cadeau-maestro.com.tw
cadeau-maestro.hk
cadeau-maestro.net.cn
cadeau-maestro.org.cn
cadeau-maestro.tw

After our initial checking, we found the Brand name and domain names being applied are as same as your company! So we need confirmation with your company. If the aforementioned company is your business partner or your subsidiary, please DO NOT reply us, we will approve the application automatically. If you don't have any relationship with this company, please contact us within 7 workdays. If over the deadline, we will approve the application submitted by "HenaSun Trading Co., LTD" unconditionally.

Que faut-il en penser ?

Cette une arnaque dans le sens où la pression vous est mise d'entrée de jeu, mais évidemment plus discrète que celle du remboursement d'impôt. Le mail est envoyé avec une importance haute, pour faire flipper. Mais sincèrement, si quelqu'un aurait vraiment voulu réserver ces noms de domaines, le registrar aurait-il pris la peine de m'en informer ? Et puis, pourquoi aurais-je peur de quelqu'un voulant réserver le .cn de mon nom de domaine ?

En fouillant un peu, je me rends vite compte que c'est une arnaque courante, et que de nombreux anglophones parlent de cela. L'arnaque, c'est qu'après les avoir contacté, ils vous proposent de vous vendre ces noms de domaines dont vous n'avez aucun besoin (souvent hors de prix d'ailleurs).
